Uporabna vojaška etika Za vključujočo in varno družbo prihodnosti

Abstract: Bistvo obravnavane teme, na katerem sloni celotna argumentacija tega magistrskega dela, je iskanje uporabnih odgovorov na ključno vprašanje, kako v razmerah globalne negotovosti, kompleksnih varnostnih groženj, problemov in izzivov razviti nov in učinkovitejši način razmišljanja, kar je v danih razmerah visoke negotovosti in globalnega varnostnega tveganja že na svetovni ravni široko sprejet, nujen in neizogiben pogoj za preživetje ljudi in planeta Zemlja. Ob upoštevanju integralnega vidika raziskovanja so kot poglavitne metode uporabljene dialektična, primerjalna, zgodovinska in antropološka ter sociološka in aksiološka-deontološka metoda. Z mikrosociološkim pristopom, z delno strukturiranim intervjujem, s študijo primera (angl. case study) in z analizo sekundarnega gradiva so teoretične ugotovitve, ki potrjujejo glavno in delovne hipoteze, dodatno podkrepljene. Namen in cilj skupaj z rezultati raziskovalnega dela utemeljujejo potrebo po uporabni vojaški etiki in njenem integrativnem pristopu v Slovenski vojski. To je ključni rezultat tega magistrskega dela. V celoti je primerljiv s svetovnimi cilji trajnostnega razvoja ter vključujoče in varne družbe prihodnosti v Agendi 2030. Izvirnost in uporabnost sta doktrinarno utemeljeni s prizadevanji sodobnih moralnih filozofov za vrnitev etike k vsebinskim vprašanjem ter s primerjalnimi ugotovitvami, da je uporabna vojaška etika v svetovnem merilu uveljavljena v vojskah različnih držav in Zavezništva. Z vsem navedenim magistrsko delo Uporabna vojaška etika za vključujočo in varno družbo prihodnosti predstavlja nov in učinkovitejši pristop h krepitvi etike v Slovenski vojski, na vseh ravneh in področjih njenega normativnega okvira in delovanja, tako v nacionalnem varnostnem in obrambnem kot mednarodnem in diplomatskem pogledu.

Podoba globalnega sveta

Abstract: V pričujočem magistrskem delu predstavimo tisto, kar je Samuel Huntington v svoji knjigi »Spopad civilizacij« leta 1996 ovrednotil kot »Zahodno« in »nezahodno«, z grožnjo neizogibnega trka v prihodnosti, ki bo nastal zaradi kulturnih razlik med njima. V raziskavi smo uporabili deskriptivno metodo zajemanja dejstev in SWOT-analizo, namenjeno iskanju prednosti, slabosti, priložnosti in nevarnosti (angl. strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats), ki jih prinaša trk Zahoda, ki sloni na materialističnih vrednotah, z bolj duhovno filozofijo, ki temelji na principu jin-jang, ki stremi k harmoničnemu delovanju in se danes postavlja s konfucijanstvom in moderno Kitajsko v boju za prevlado načel kot tudi ekonomske uspešnosti. Obstajata torej dve drži, fundamentalistična, ki temelji na tradicionalnih vrednotah tudi s svojo ekstremnostjo, ko gre za ohranitev in obrambo neke kultura in vere, in sekularizirana moderna zahodnost v globaliziranem svetu. Ne obstajata več »tukaj« in »tam«, temveč le globalna vas, kjer je nova Svilna pot splet z naraščajočo globalno trgovino vseh z vsemi, ki ji vlada »vesternizirana nasilna kultura«. Demografske pretnje eksponentno rastočega prebivalstva prinašajo vedno večje razlike in grozečo revščino v državah v razvoju, kar spodbuja migracije, ki potekajo proti razvitemu severu in zahodu in iz vasi v mesta. Tehnološki napredek prinaša višji standard kot tudi vedno bolj onesnaženo okolje, kar le polagoma pridobiva na pomenu kot največja pretnja prihodnosti globalne civilizacije. Monoteizmi, bipolarnost in onesnaženje so danes tiste realne grožnje za nastanek globalne civilizacije, ki naj bi temeljila na dialogu strpnosti in sodelovanju različnih v boju za demokratične vrednote, ki so kulturno in civilizacijsko utemeljene (človekove pravice). Mir se ne bo ohranil, če se velika večina človeštva ne združi v njegovo obrambo in si dokaže, da zmore odbiti barbarske in atavistične sile. Živimo v »družbi tveganja«, kot trdi Ulrich Beck (1986 v Tomšič 2009).

Influence of sociodemographic, organizational, and social factors on turnover consideration among eldercare workers

Abstract: Staff turnover in long-term care (LTC) is considered one of the main causes of staff shortages and a key problem for LTC systems in the developed world. Factors affecting staff turnover in LTC facilities are poorly understood due to a fragmented approach. The aim of this study was to use multivariate analysis to identify the factors at the macro-, meso-, and micro-level that influence LTC workers’ turnover in Slovenia, a typical Central and Eastern European country. A correlational cross-sectional survey design with a self-reported online questionnaire was used among Slovenian LTC workers (N = 452). The results show that more than half of LTC workers intend to quit their jobs and leave the LTC sector. LTC workers who intend to leave are generally younger, have worked in the LTC sector for a shorter period, are mainly employed in the public sector, especially in nursing homes, and earn less. The connection between the intention to leave and the factors at the macro-, meso-, and micro-level is very high. Over 75% of the variance of intention to leave was explained by the linear influence of sociodemographic characteristics, social recognition, and work environment. Urgent measures for improving the work environment are needed.

Revitalization of the Slovenian herbal market?

Abstract: Purpose – The study aims to identify the needs, barriers, and measures relevant for the revitalization of the herbal market in Slovenia. Design/Methodology/Approach – A mixed-methods approach was used in the study, with a quantitative online survey of Slovenian herbalists (N = 217) and in-depth interviews conducted with key Slovenian stakeholders in the field of herbalism (N = 18). Findings and Implications – Most Slovenian herbalists grow herbs as a hobby or as a supplementary farm activity; they have little land for growing herbs and thus also generate a low income. Most of them sell their products directly to consumers, with only one tenth selling herbs to retailers. As many as three quarters of the respondents are not a part of any organization which, along with lower prices, is the main barrier to a market revitalization. The in-depth interviews revealed a lack of interest in collaboration among herbalists because they find the existing situation to be sufficient to a certain extent, as demand is greater than their supply. The results show no evidence of an herbal market as it existed before Slovenia’s independence. Limitations – Since there is no census of Slovenian herbalists, the sample is not representative. Originality – There is a lack of understanding of the barriers to and measures for revitalizing the herbal market, especially in developed countries whose market was well developed decades ago, such as Slovenia.

Factors influencing use of medicinal herbs

Abstract: In countries with a long tradition of folk herbal medicine that is not integrated into the health system, consumer interest in medicinal herbs has increased. Considering the lack of knowledge about the factors influencing the use of medicinal herbs, the aim of this study was to identify the most important factors of herbal use in Slovenia. Factors were assessed in June 2023 using a nationwide sample (N = 508). Results show that almost half of the respondents are not familiar with medicinal herbs, however, 86% use them at least a few times a year. The “familiarity with medicinal herbs” had the strongest direct effect on the use of medicinal herbs, followed by the “social impact of the herbalist” and the “perceived usefulness of medicinal herbs.” There is a need to create a new approach to integrative medicine policy and the use of medicinal herbs in Slovenia by developing educational programs, training professionals, establishing guidelines for the safe and effective use of herbs, and advocating for reimbursement by health insurance companies.
