Abstract:An organizational information system consists of people, data, operational methodologies, and information technology. It represents an ensemble of applications and activities essential for data processing, storage, and dissemination, as well as for the overall functioning of the organization. A cyber-attack can gravely jeopardize this information system, inflicting damage to the organization as a whole. Timely and appropriate protection measures, coupled with employee awareness, are pivotal factors in ensuring organizational security. The frequency of cyber-attacks targeting small and medium-sized enterprises is witnessing an annual escalation. While organizations are enhancing their information system defenses, often it is the uninformed actions of employees that can lead to data breaches. Concurrently, leaders must recognize that the daily and increasingly expansive use of information technology, without the requisite safeguards and employee awareness, can expose the organization to data losses or even its eventual downfall through cyber-attacks.
