Title:HEALTHCARE FOR A NURSING HOME RESIDENT WITH DEMENTIA
Abstract:Dementia is a chronic disease that affects memory, thinking and behaviour, leading to a progressive loss of independence. Therapeutic communication emphasises an empathic and understanding attitude, while validation is based on the recognition of the feelings and experiences of the caregivers. The Snoezelen method creates a relaxing environment through the use of multisensory stimuli, while music therapy promotes emotional expression and calming. Remotivational therapy enhances self-esteem and motivation, while the biographical approach is based on the integration of the care recipient's life stories for more personalised and respectful care. The aim of the study was to examine the nursing care of care recipients with dementia.
