Razvili in validirali smo novo mersko lestvico uspešnega staranja LGBTQ+ starejših odraslih, imenovano mavrična lestvica uspešnega staranja – R-SAS.

Abstract:Older adults are a heterogeneous group, including LGBTQ+ individuals who face additional challenges due to societal norms such as discrimination, stigma, homophobia, biphobia, or transphobia. These challenges impact their ability to age successfully, their life satisfaction, and their subjective well-being. The doctoral dissertation is based on Rowe and Kahn's theory of successful ageing (1997), which states that physical and mental health and the social network are factors in successful ageing. We upgraded the theory of successful ageing with two additional factors - integrated care and living environment. The dissertation answers the fundamental scientific research question of whether the factors of successful ageing affect life satisfaction and subjective well-being in LGBTQ+ older adults. In doing so, we designed a rainbow model of ensuring satisfaction with life and subjective well-being. We developed and validated a new measurement scale of successful ageing of LGBTQ+ older adults called the Rainbow Successful Ageing Scale - R-SAS. We confirm the influence of the factors of successful ageing – physical and mental health, social network and living environment on life satisfaction, as well as the influence of life satisfaction on subjective well-being in LGBTQ+ older adults. We did not confirm the impact of integrated care as a factor of successful ageing on life satisfaction. Society as a whole and social gerontology as a science with special knowledge in the field of ageing must work together for the successful ageing of all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or any other human phenotypic characteristics.
