Abstract:Izhodišča: Ukrepi za zajezitev širjenja virusa SARS-CoV-2 so imeli po vsem svetu pomemben vpliv na aktivno delovanje transplantacijske in donorske dejavnosti.

Title:The impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the transplatation activity in Slovenia
Abstract:Background: Measures to contain the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus have had a significant impact on the active operation of transplant and donor activities worldwide. In some places, the activity of the programs decreased in some places it even stopped temporarily. Methods: We studied the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the transplantation activity of solid organs in Slovenia. The research part of the assignment was carried out at the University Clinical Center in Ljubljana. We conducted semi-structured interviews of the clinical transplant coordinators of the individual transplant program, who also made important decisions regarding the treatment of organ transplant patients. The Slovenia-transplant Institute issued a step-by-step plan based on which donor and transplantation activities operated after the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic. Results: Based on the research work, we came to the results that the covid-19 pandemic did not have a major impact on the functioning of the transplantation activity. Slightly more transplants were performed compared to the same period before the covid-19 pandemic. The operation of transplantation and donor activities in Slovenia was adjusted at the beginning of the pandemic but never stopped. The results achieved by Slovenia during the pandemic are exceptional and rank it among the best countries with the highest quality donor program and transplant treatment at the international level. The pandemic, the treatment of infected patients and the implementation of measures to contain the SARS-CoV-2 virus further deepened the existing personnel crisis, especially in the area of nursing staff, and drew attention to insufficient and inappropriate spatial capacities. Discussion: The mutual cooperation of all responsible individuals in Slovenia helped that Slovenia, with a good organization of work during the covid-19 pandemic, can set a good example for other countries that have reduced or even stopped organ transplant activities for a short time.
