Abstract:Uvod in namen: Spinalna mišična atrofija je redka genska bolezen, ki prizadane del živčnega sistema, zadolženega za premikanje skeletnih mišic. Vključitveni kriteriji zajemajo tematiko o rehabilitaciji otrok s spinalno mišično atrofijo, literaturo, randomizirane in kontrolirane klinične raziskave, napisane v angleškem in slovenskem jeziku. Rezultati: Pri obravnavi otrok s spinalno mišično atrofijo, je pomembno vključevanje in celostno sodelovanje multidisplinarnega tima, učinkovitost vadbe in pomembnost fizioterapevtske obravnave.
Keywords:Spinalna mišična atrofija, možnosti zdravljenja s SMA, fizioterapevtska obravnava otrok s SMA, razvojno nevrološka obravnava.

Title:Physiotherapy treatmentof children with spinal muscular atrophy
Abstract:Introduction and purpose: Spinal muscular atrophy is a rare genetic disease that affects the part of the nervous system responsible for moving skeletal muscles. We know four types of the disease, each of them manifests itself in a different way. All of them have in common that the sufferers have problems with motor functions, they can also with breathing and swallowing. The physiotherapist's task is to correctly perform specific exercises and educate the patient about the importance of exercise and comprehensive physiotherapeutic treatment. Performs exercise to maintain muscle strength and muscle tone to prevent further muscle wasting. Methods: The thesis has the form of a literature review on the topic of rehabilitation of children with spinal muscular atrophy. The inclusion criteria cover the topic of rehabilitation of children with spinal muscular atrophy, literature, randomized and controlled clinical research, written in English and Slovenian. Results: In the treatment of children with spinal muscular atrophy, the inclusion and integrated cooperation of a multidisciplinary team, the effectiveness of exercise and the importance of physiotherapeutic treatment are important. Usability: The thesis is intended for everyone who wants to understand the course of the disease, the various options for its treatment and the course of physiotherapeutic treatment in patients. Limitations: The researched area needs additional research, which could be used to better understand the development of the disease and the treatment options for spinal muscular atrophy.
Keywords:Spinal muscular atrophy, SMA treatment options, physiotherapeutic treatment of children with SMA, developmental neurological treatment.
