Abstract:Magistrska naloga raziskuje vpliv dezinformacij na politično stabilnost s poudarkom na štirih evropskih državah: Franciji, Poljski, Madžarski in Združenem kraljestvu. Glavni cilj raziskave je bil analizirati, kako lažne informacije vplivajo na politične procese, kdo jih širi in prek katerih kanalov, kakšne so njihove glavne strategije ter kateri ukrepi so najbolj učinkoviti pri omejevanju njihovega vpliva. Rezultati raziskave potrjujejo, da so dezinformacije postale pomembno orodje za oblikovanje javnega mnenja, vpliv na volilne izide in destabilizacijo demokratičnih sistemov. Dokazali smo, da dezinformacije prispevajo k volilni manipulaciji, polarizaciji družbe in zmanjšanju zaupanja v institucije. Države, ki imajo bolj učinkovite regulativne mehanizme, so pokazale večjo odpornost proti vplivu dezinformacij - najbolj učinkoviti izmed njih so regulacija digitalnih platform, izboljšanje medijske pismenosti in podpora neodvisnim preverjevalcem dejstev.

Title:THE IMPACT OF DISINFORMATION ON POLITICAL STABILITY IN EUROPE
Abstract:This master thesis explores the impact of disinformation on political stability, focusing on four European countries: France, Poland, Hungary and the United Kingdom. The main objective of the research was to analyse how disinformation affects political processes, who spreads it and through which channels, what are their main strategies and which measures are the most effective in limiting the impact of disinformation. The results confirm that disinformation has become an important tool for shaping public opinion, influencing electoral outcomes and destabilising democratic systems. We have shown that disinformation contributes to electoral manipulation, polarisation of society and erosion of trust in institutions. Countries with more effective regulatory mechanisms have shown greater resilience to the impact of disinformation, the most effective of which are regulation of digital platforms, improved media literacy and support for independent fact-checkers. Key challenges that remain are the speed at which disinformation spreads on social media, the difficulty of regulating it and the increasing use of artificial intelligence to create manipulative content. In conclusion, we stress how important the fight against disinformation is for the preservation of democracy, as the impact of disinformation within countries is growing, especially on digital platforms. We also stress the need for joint international cooperation in the fight against disinformation. Further research should involve an even larger number of countries, an in-depth analysis on the effectiveness of legislative measures and on the impact of artificial intelligence on the spread of disinformation.
