Abstract:Zvin gležnja je pogosta poškodba v športu, zlasti v badmintonu, kjer gibanje vključuje hitre in nenadne gibe. Podatki so bili analizirani s pomočjo SPSS in MedCalc, z Microsoft Excel smo oblikovali grafične prikaze. V prihodnje bi bilo treba poudariti pomen fizioterapevtske obravnave znotraj kluba in usposobiti trenerje glede izvajanja preventivnih ukrepov.

Abstract:Ankle sprains are common injuries in sports, especially in badminton, where movements are fast and sudden. Due to this, the lower extremities are under great stress, so it is neccessary to include preventive interventions in training programs that will affect the athlete's performance and reduce injury risk. The aim of our study was to determine how common ankle sprain injuries occur among badminton players in Slovenia and to compare key differences in rehabilitation and prevention between youth and senior players. Methodology: For the purpose of research, we used a descriptive and quantitative method for which we used a self–designed survey questionnarie. The sample consisted of 67 respondents, including 36 youth and 31 senior badminton players in Slovenia. Data were analyzed using SPSS and MedCalc and the graphical representations were created using Microsoft Excel. Results: Results show that 52,8 % of youth and 51,6 % of senior players experienced ankle sprains. Most of the injured did not attend physiotherapy (61, 5% of youth and 66,7 % of seniors) and recovery took 2–4 weeks for most. The majority were unfamilliar with prevention programs for ankle sprain (58,8 % of youth and 64,5 % of seniors), yet nearly all players reported regular warm-ups and know what characteristics proper footwear should have. Discussion: The study found no significant differences between age groups in handling ankle sprains. After rehabilitation of a sprained ankle, both groups largely recovered after 2–4 weeks, as the injury had healed (youth 53,6 %, seniors 66,7 %). In the future, it would be necessary to emphasize the importance of physiotherapy treatment within the club and the education of coaches regarding the implementation of preventive measures.
