Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Endometrioza prizadene vedno več žensk v rodni dobi in povzroča bolečine, močne krvavitve, utrujenost in neplodnost. Dobljeni rezultati so predstavljeni tabelarično in opisno s pomočjo Microsoft Excela in statističnega proga SPSS 29.0.

Abstract:Theoretical Background: Endometriosis affects an increasing number of women of reproductive age, causing pain, heavy bleeding, fatigue, and infertility. Consequently, it impacts economic and social status, private and public life, as well as mental health. It is essential to raise awareness among women and their surroundings about endometriosis, its symptoms, treatment, and the consequences that come with the diagnosis. Methodology: The research employed a descriptive and quantitative methodology. A survey questionnaire, developed based on a literature review, was completed by 120 women over the age of 15 from the Pomurje region. Sampling was based on the snowball method with a gradual increase in participants. The results were presented in tabular and descriptive form using Microsoft Excel and the statistical software SPSS 29.0. Results: The findings revealed that most women (36.7%) first heard about endometriosis during employment. Among the symptoms characteristic of endometriosis, 33.3% of respondents reported a combination of pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, and infertility. The majority (45.8%) believed that more information about endometriosis should be available. Most respondents (61.7%) searched for information on the internet. Notably, 42.5% of respondents reported never receiving information about endometriosis from a gynaecologist or nurse. A significant proportion (77.5%) expressed a desire for more information. Discussion: Women are largely familiar with or have heard of endometriosis, but the awareness is low. However, they still desire additional information, as they perceive a lack of adequate resources. Raising awareness should begin early, and there is a need for changes in awareness-raising efforts by nurses, as their knowledge about endometriosis and the provision of information are essential.
