Abstract:Izhodišča: Nevrološka obolenja so pogost razlog invalidnosti in okvar. V raziskavo smo vključili 3 sistematične preglede, 4 posamične naključne kontrolirane preskuse, 3 posamične prospektivne kohortne študije, 1 posamično študijo s kontrolno skupino, 4 posamične presečne študije in 3 posamične poglobljene kvalitativne študije ter 1 mnenje strokovnjakov.

Title:NURSING CARE FOR PATIENTS WITH NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS
Abstract:Background: Neurological disorders are a common cause of disability and impairment. Nursing care for patients with neurological disorders is specific, as these disorders cover a wide spectrum. The purpose of this study is to examine nursing care for patients with neurological disorders through literature review. The aims of this study were to review the literature and sources between 2015 and 2025 on the topic of nursing care for patients with neurological disorders, to explore the most important elements for the quality implementation of nursing care for patients with neurological disorders, to identify the challenges and obstacles nurses face in nursing care for patients with neurological disorders, and to explore the specifics of nursing care for patients with neurological disorders. Method: We used a literature review method, which we obtained using exclusion criteria from the PubMed, Nature Portfolio, Bielefeld Academic Search Engine, Google Scholar, and CobbisPlus databases. All articles were reviewed in order to exclude potentially unsuitable articles and select those appropriate for further literature review. We used the following keywords: nevrološka obolenja, zdravstveno varstvo, zdravstvene nega, pacienti in slovenian and neurological disorders, health care, nursing, patients in english. The criteria for articles were that they had to be published between the years 2015 and 2025 and have open access. The literature was limited to Slovenian and English. We excluded duplicate articles and articles that did not include the specific content we were looking for. When searching for literature, we searched for keywords using quotation marks. Results: 19 articles, all in English, were included in the study and final analysis. The study included 3 systematic reviews, 4 individual randomized controlled trials, 3 individual prospective cohort studies, 1 individual study with a control group, 4 individual cross-sectional studies, 3 individual in-depth qualitative studies, and 1 expert opinion. The results obtained from the literature review show that the elements of nursing care for patients with neurological disorders are holistic, empathetic, individualized, and multidisciplinary. The challenges and obstacles faced by nurses vary from poor communication, lack of time, uneven distribution of patients, to various disorders such as cognitive disorders or swallowing disorders. The specifics of nursing care for patients with neurological disorders are just as diverse, including monitoring intracranial pressure, assessing consciousness and outcomes, and incorporating telenursing. Discussion: The analysis of the literature review showed the importance of holistic, individualized patient care and the importance of a multidisciplinary team and collaboration with other professionals. We have reached the conclusion that qualitative nursing care of a patient with neurological disorder requires a great deal of knowledge, cooperation and empathy.
