Title:Vloga fizioterapevta in vpliv telesne dejavnosti na poporodno depresijo – pregled literature : diplomsko delo visokošolskega strokovnega študijskega programa prve bolonjske stopnje Fizioterapija

Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Poporodna depresija je pogosta duševna motnja, ki jo sproži kompleksna interakcija bioloških, psiholoških in socialnih dejavnikov. Kljub temu se ženske pogosto ne odločijo poiskati strokovne pomoči oziroma se ne poslužujejo farmakološkega zdravljenja. Telesna dejavnost pa predstavlja obetaven, učinkovit in varen alternativni pristop, saj izboljšuje psihično in fizično zdravje ter zmanjšuje tveganje za pojav te motnje. Namen: S pregledom literature proučiti vlogo fizioterapevta in pristope za obravnavo poporodne depresije ter raziskati vpliv telesne dejavnosti na njeno preprečevanje in lajšanje med nosečnostjo in po porodu. Metode dela: Uporabljena je bila kvalitativna metoda. Literatura v slovenščini in angleščini je bila zbrana prek podatkovnih baz PubMed, Medline, PEDro, Google Scholar in CINAHL – EBSCO. Članke, mlajše od 10 let, smo izbrali na podlagi vključitvenih in izključitvenih kriterijev. Rezultati: V analizo je bilo uvrščenih 12 študij. Telesna dejavnost se je izkazala za učinkovito metodo preprečevanja in lajšanja simptomov poporodne depresije, kjer fizioterapevt igra pomembno vlogo pri motivaciji, usmerjanju in nadzoru vadbe. Razprava in zaključek: Programi, kot so aerobna vadba, joga, pilates in skupinske vadbe, pozitivno vplivajo na psihično počutje in telesno pripravljenost. Kljub dokazanim učinkom ostaja ozaveščenost o fizioterapevtskih storitvah nizka. Ker so učinki telesne dejavnosti primerljivi z antidepresivi, to predstavlja varno in obetavno dopolnilno metodo za obvladovanje poporodne depresije. Pri tem vloga fizioterapevta poleg svetovanja in nadzora zajema tudi prilagajanje intervencij individualnim potrebam, kar je ključno za izboljšanje celostnega zdravja mater v tem obdobju.

Abstract:Theoretical background: Postpartum depression is a common mental disorder resulting from a complex interaction of biological, psychological, and social factors. Despite its prevalence, women often do not seek professional help or resort to pharmacological treatments. Physical activity presents a promising, effective, and safe alternative, as it improves both mental and physical health and reduces the risk of developing the disorder. Purpose: This literature review aims to examine the role of the physiotherapist and the approaches used in treating postpartum depression, as well as the impact of physical activity on its prevention and alleviation during pregnancy and after childbirth. Methods: A qualitative research method was employed. Relevant articles were retrieved using the PubMed, Medline, PEDro, Google Scholar, and CINAHL – EBSCO databases. Articles published within the last 10 years were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: 12 studies were included in the final analysis. Physical activity proved to be an effective method for preventing and alleviating postpartum depression symptoms, with the physiotherapist playing a key role in motivating, guiding, and supervising exercise programs. Discussion and conclusion: Structured programs—such as aerobic exercise, yoga, Pilates, and group workouts improve mental well-being and physical fitness. Despite these positive effects, awareness of physiotherapy services remains low. Given that the effects of physical activity are comparable to those of antidepressants, it represents a safe and promising complementary approach. The physiotherapist’s role extends beyond advice and supervision to include tailoring interventions to the individual needs, which is crucial for improving maternal health during this period.
