Abstract:Nenehni razvoj in investiranje v nove proizvodne procese je ključ do uspeha in konkurenčnosti podjetja.
Keywords:Lesna industrija, konstrukcijski les, investicija, točka preloma, razvoj lesnih kompozitov.

Title:Data approach in manufacturing function
Abstract:Continuous development and investment in new production processes are key to a company’s success and competitiveness, and the central theme of this thesis is an economic analysis of establishing a production line for the manufacturing of structural timber. The company currently focuses on primary wood processing, but with the proposed investment, it would expand its offering to include a finished product, thereby achieving higher added value. Some of the main issues addressed include production costs, raw material supply, and the return on investment. Through a cost and revenue analysis, the company is projected to reach the break-even point at an annual production volume of 2,322 m3, beyond which it will begin generating profit. At the planned annual production of 6,000 m3 of wooden lamellas for timber construction, the investment is expected to pay off in approximately four years. With proper quality, reliable supply, and precision, the company is well-positioned to succeed in the market. The ability to process timber in-house will provide the company with complete independence, ensuring a consistent supply of raw materials for structural timber production. The price of the input material (wood) will determine whether importing raw material is economically viable; otherwise, the current production line will be used to prepare lamellas for the final product. The target market includes both the domestic (Slovenian) market and the markets of the former Yugoslav republics. Timber construction has gained significant traction in recent years, proving that natural materials, when combined with advanced technology, can be used even in demanding construction projects. The company has recognized this potential, and therefore, the decision to build a new production line is justified and aligns with current market demands. Future developments in wood composites are also expected, which will further strengthen the role of timber in construction.
