Title:THE RATIONALITY OF USING AND PRODUCING METHANOL FROM GREEN HYDROGEN
Abstract:This thesis addresses the issue of the globally increased concentration of CO₂ in the atmosphere and focuses on technical solutions in this area. Current standards and European Union legislation are presented, along with the advantages and limitations of using synthetic fuels and their comparison with fossil fuels. Special attention is given to the production of methanol from carbon dioxide and green hydrogen, using surplus electricity from renewable sources as the energy input. The analysis includes technical, safety, and economic aspects of using methanol as an alternative fuel. The results show that, under favorable production conditions, methanol can achieve a competitive price and contribute to the decarbonization of the energy sector. It is concluded that methanol represents a promising solution for long-term energy storage and sustainable mobility within the framework of the green transition.
