Po hierarhiji dokazov smo imeli različne ravni kakovosti dokazov: sistematični pregled nerandomiziranih kliničnih študij in metaanalize (12), posamezne nerandomizirane klinične študije (3), sistematični pregledi korelacijskih študij (2), posamezne korelacijske študije (20), sistematični pregled opisnih/kvalitativnih študij (1), mnenja avtorjev/ekspertnih komisij (3).
Keywords:Čustvena zloraba, čustveno zanemarjanje, duševno zdravje, medosebni odnosi, akademski uspeh, poklicno delovanje.

Title:Childhood Emotional Abuse
Abstract:Theoretical Backround: Emotional abuse in childhood represents a problematic and complex form of abuse, as it is often overlooked and regarded as less important. The purpose is to define this form of abuse, identify the ways in which it manifests, distinguish it from other types of abuse, and explore its long-term effects on adults. The research focused on psychological and emotional consequences, mental disorders, destructive and risky behavioral patterns, interpersonal relationships, as well as academic and professional outcomes. Method: A critical review of professional and scientific literature was conducted using the databases Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Sage Journals. Inclusion criteria were: relevance to the subject; articles addressing emotional abuse or emotional neglect in childhood (individually or as part of a broader concept of abuse); articles published within the last ten years (2015–2025); and full-text accessibility. The review followed PRISMA guidelines. Results: Out of the initial 1,186,105 hits, 47 sources were included in the final content analysis after full-text review. According to the hierarchy of evidence, we had different levels of evidence quality: systematic reviews of non-randomized clinical studies and metaanalyses (12), individual non-randomized clinical studies (3), systematic reviews of correlational studies (2), individual correlational studies (20), systematic reviews of descriptive/qualitative studies (1), opinions of authors/expert committees (3). Findings: The thesis highlights the need for greater recognition of emotional abuse in childhood. Findings indicate that the consequences are long-term and affect various aspects of an individual’s life. Protective factors such as support and resistance play a crucial role in mitigating negative effects.
Keywords:Emotional abuse, emotional neglect, mental health, interpersonal relationships, academic achievement, professional functioning.
