Abstract:Theoretical background: Fibromyalgia is one of the most common rheumatic diseases, characterized by widespread chronic pain. Although it is still an insufficiently researched area, it is acommpanied by neurological, digestive and urogenital symptoms in addition to muscle symptoms, which affects the reduction of the quality of life of these people. The purpose of the diploma thesis was to determine how often myofascial pain syndrome occurs in people with fibromyalgia, which physiotherapy methods and techniques are most often used to reduce pain and improve quality of life, and to determine the effectiveness of physiotherapy methods and techniques for reducing symptoms of myofascial pain syndrome in fibromyalgia. Methods: The empirical part of the thesis is based on qualitative research. We used the compilation, description, comparison and analysis and synthesis methods. The total number of selected studies was presented using the PRISMA diagram. The quality of the articles was assessed using the PEDro scale. Based on the research questions, the studies were analyzed and classified into a table of categories and codes. Results: After a careful analysis of the professional and scientific literature, the results showed that MBS often occurs in patients with SFM, which further complicates the diagnosis and treatment. Research confirms the effectiveness of various physiotherapeutic approaches, such as myofascial techniques, exercise, hydrotherapy, ultrasound therapy and LLLT in reducing pain, improving mobility and quality of life. Discussion: Successful treatment of FSM requires a holistic approach that combines a variety of physiotherapy methods. Individualization of therapies based on the specific symptoms of the individual is crucial to reducing pain and improving quality of life.
