Abstract:Odnos do smrti ni statičen in se čez življenje lahko spreminja. Oblikujejo ga osebne izkušnje, kulturno ozadje in družba, v kateri živimo.

Title:ANALYSIS OF CHANGES IN ATTITUDES TOWARDS DEATH AND TRANSIENCE IN EMPLOYEES IN PALLIATIVE CARE
Abstract:Attitudes towards death are not static and can change throughout life. They are shaped by personal experiences, cultural background and the society in which we live. This study examines how perceptions of death develops over time among hospice workers and how these changes affect professional practice and worldview. Using semi-structured interviews, the research revealed a shift in the view of death among hospice workers. Many participants described their feelings and beliefs about death as quite negative before starting work, but this view has gradually become more accepting. Although they are reluctant to label the changes as definitively »positive«, most interviewees emphasize greater calmness, a stronger ability to be present in life and greater clarity about priorities, which allows them to live more fully. The research identifies several different factors that contribute most to this change. Experience and repeated exposure to end-of-life situations play the most important role. They see the entire process of dying and the end of life as more natural and also tend to see death as no longer taboo and medicalized. These experiences help to reduce discomfort with the topic of death and also reshape life priorities. Professionally, they reported feeling more capable of providing care that balances emotional presence with practical skills. Coping strategies with a supportive work and home environment play an important role in their work practice. Personally, they found that they appreciated the smaller moments of life more and were less bothered by small problems and material goods. This research shows that the changing perspective on death among hospice workers is not just a by-product of their work. It affects their entire work and personal lives and is integrated as part of their identity.
