Title:Mental Health and Psychosocial Assistance to Refugees from Ukraine
Abstract:The master's thesis focuses on the research regarding the mental health of Ukrainian refugees in Slovenia, specifically analyzing the importance and effectiveness of psychosocial support provided to them. In the context of the current conflict in Ukraine, the number of refugees has increased drastically, which has caused a wide range of challenges related to their mental health. The purpose of the research is to examine the specific psychological and emotional problems that Ukrainian refugees face. We want to identify key factors relating to the mental health of refugees and offer recommendations for improving psychosocial support. The research is qualitative in nature and includes interviews with refugees from Ukraine. The results of the research show that the mental health of Ukrainian refugees is at risk due to traumatic experiences, loss of home, separation from family and uncertainty about the future. Difficulties in adapting to the new environment and feelings of loneliness are also noticeable, as they further threaten their well-being. In addition, the task reveals that there is a great need to increase the accessibility of psychosocial services, improve their quality and adapt programs to the specific needs of refugees. In addition, the work emphasizes the need to train professionals working with the refugees and develop comprehensive strategies for managing trauma and stress. An important emphasis is placed on the inclusion of refugees in activities that help them form a sense of security, belonging and emotional stability. With certain measures and adjustments, we can strengthen psychosocial support, improve their integration into Slovenia's society and contribute to their recovery which can raise the quality of life for everyone involved.
