Metadata Policy

for information describing items in the repository

  1. Access to some or all of the metadata is controlled.
  2. The metadata may be re-used in any medium without prior permission for not-for-profit purposes provided:
    • the OAI Identifier or a link to the original metadata record are given
    • ReVIS (Repository of colleges and higher education institutions) is mentioned

Data Policy

for full-text and other full data items

  1. Access to some or all full items is controlled.
  2. Copies of full items generally can be:
    • displayed or performed in any format or medium
    • for personal research or study, educational, or not-for-profit purposes without prior permission or charge, provided:
      • the authors, title and full bibliographic details are given
      • a hyperlink and/or URL are given for the original metadata page
      • the original copyright statement is given
      • the original rights permission statement is given
      • the content is not changed in any way
    • Full items must not be harvested by robots except transiently for full-text indexing or citation analysis
    • Full items must not be sold commercially in any format or medium without formal permission of the copyright holders.
    • Some full items are individually tagged with different rights permissions and conditions.

Content Policy

for types of document & data set held

  1. This is an institutional or departmental repository.
  2. ReVIS (Repository of colleges and higher education institutions) holds all types of materials.
  3. Deposited items may include:
    • submitted versions (as sent to journals for peer-review)
    • accepted versions (author's final peer-reviewed drafts)
    • published versions (publisher-created files)
  4. Items are individually tagged with:
    • their version type and date.
    • their peer-review status.
    • their publication status.
  5. Principal Languages: English; Slovenian; German; Croatian; Hungarian

Submission Policy

concerning depositors, quality & copyright

  1. Items may only be deposited by accredited members, academic staff, registered students, and employees of the institution
  2. Authors may only submit their own work for archiving.
  3. Eligible depositors must deposit bibliographic metadata for all their publications.
  4. Eligible depositors must deposit full texts of all their publications, although they may delay making them publicly visible to comply with publishers' embargos.
  5. The administrator only vets items for the eligibility of authors/depositors, relevance to the scope of ReVIS (Repository of colleges and higher education institutions), and valid layout & format
  6. The validity and authenticity of the content of submissions is checked by internal subject specialists.
  7. Items can be deposited at any time, but will not be made publicly visible until any publishers' or funders' embargo period has expired.
  8. Any copyright violations are entirely the responsibility of the authors/depositors.
  9. If ReVIS (Repository of colleges and higher education institutions) receives proof of copyright violation, the relevant item will be removed immediately.

Preservation Policy

  1. Items will be retained for at least 20 years from the date of deposition.
  2. No functional specification policy has been defined.
  3. ReVIS (Repository of colleges and higher education institutions) regularly backs up its files according to current best practice.
  4. The original bit stream is retained for all items, in addition to any upgraded formats.
  5. Items may be removed at the request of the author/copyright holder, but this is strongly discouraged.
  6. Acceptable reasons for withdrawal include:
    • Journal publishers' rules
    • Proven copyright violation or plagiarism
    • Legal requirements and proven violations
    • National Security
    • Falsified research
  7. Withdrawn items are deleted entirely from the database.
  8. Withdrawn items' identifiers/URLs are not retained.
  9. If necessary, an updated version may be deposited.
    • The earlier version may be withdrawn from public view.
  10. In the event of ReVIS (Repository of colleges and higher education institutions) being closed down, the database will be transferred to another appropriate archive.

University of Maribor is introducing submittal of doctor's dissertations and thesis to an international bibliographical database Dissertations and Theses with the start of academic year 2012/2013 which puts University of Maribor in a group of universities that systematically include original scientific dissertations and theses in an internationally recognised database which is a primary source of such information.

DATABASE COLLECTION PROQUEST DISSERTATIONS AND THESES

  • An international bibliographical database of record for graduate research worldwide.
  • Includes over 1600 universities worldwide.
  • University of Maribor is a first university in Slovenia that will include all of it's doctor's dissertations and theses in Proquest Dissertations and Theses database collection.

BENEFITS OF INCLUDING DOCTOR'S DISSERTATIONS IN A DATABASE COLLECTION PROQUEST DISSERTATION AND THESES

  • Inclusion in a biggest international database collection of doctor's dissertations.
  • Larger recognition of University of Maribor's and author's scientific researches.
  • Permanent archiving guaranteed - Library of Congress (University of Maribor would have access to it's doctor's theses even if it's access to a full database was cancelled).
  • Authors are intitled to a share of income if their work is sold in either electronic or printed edition.

AUTHOR'S OBLIGATIONS

  • Submittal of doctor's disseratations and theses to the Dissertations and Theses database is mandatory by conclusion of the Senat of University of Maribor.
  • Service is charge free.
  • Doctor's dissertations must be submitted in a .pdf format through Proquest's web portal in a Dissertations & Theses database which is available through Digital library of University of Maribor (DLUM) – tab PQDT – Submittal of doctor's dissertations.
  • With sumbital the author is giving up his/hers material author's rights only for a submitted copy of his/hers doctor's dissertations or theses. Proquest has inexclusive material author's rights only for the submitted .pdf copy.
  • The author is obliged to submit a full-text .pdf copy, but only first 20 pages are visible in a database collection so users of a database collection are only entitled to see abstract, bibliographical information and first few pages of the document free of charge.
  • The author has a possibility to publish his/hers documents as freely available texts which is a worldwide trend in modern scientific communication (PQDT Open;inf.: http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/about.html)

Legal basis

Podlaga za sporočilo je spremenjeni Zakon o elektronskih komunikacijah (Uradni list 109/2012, v nadaljevanju ZEKom-1), ki je začel veljati na začetku leta 2013 ter je prinesel nova pravila glede uporabe piškotkov in podobnih tehnologij za shranjevanje informacij ali dostop do informacij, shranjenih na računalniku ali mobilni napravi uporabnika.

Kaj so piškotki?

Piškotek (angl. cookie) je datoteka, ki shrani nastavitve spletnih strani. Spletna mesta piškotke shranijo v naprave uporabnikov, s katerimi dostopajo do interneta z namenom prepoznavanja posameznih naprav in nastavitev, ki so jih uporabniki uporabili pri dostopu. Piškotki omogočajo spletnim stranem prepoznavanje, če je uporabnik že obiskal to spletno mesto in pri naprednih aplikacijah se lahko z njihovo pomočjo ustrezno prilagodijo posamezne nastavitve. Njihovo shranjevanje je pod popolnim nadzorom brskalnika, ki ga uporablja uporabnik - ta lahko shranjevanje piškotkov po želji omeji ali onemogoči.

Zakaj so piškotki potrebni?

Piškotki so temeljnega pomena za zagotavljanje uporabniku prijaznih spletnih storitev. Uporabljajo se za shranjevanje podatkov o stanju posamezne spletne strani (podrobnosti o prilagoditvah posamezne spletne strani), pomagajo pri izvajanju spletnih storitev (npr. spletne trgovine), pomagajo pri zbiranju statistik o uporabnikih in obiskanosti spletnega mesta, o navadah spletnega uporabnika, itd. S pomočjo piškotkov lahko torej ocenimo učinkovitost zasnove našega spletnega mesta.

Nadzor piškotkov

Shranjevanje in upravljanje piškotkov je pod popolnim nadzorom brskalnika, ki ga uporablja uporabnik. Brskalnik lahko shranjevanje piškotkov po želji omeji ali onemogoči. Piškotke, ki jih je brskalnik shranil, lahko tudi izbrišete, navodila najdete na spletnih straneh posameznega brskalnika:
