Nosečnice so premalo ozaveščene o možnosti zunanjega obrata ploda in premalo strokovno informirane o poteku te intervencije. Na poskus obrata prihajajo pretirano zaskrbljene in mentalno slabo pripravljene.

Title:The midwife´s role in external rotation of the fetus at pregnant women with a fetus in the breech presentation
Abstract:Background: The number of C-sections is increasing, and this problem can be solved by increasing the number of attempts to turn the fetus externally on its head. At the expected date of delivery, approximately 3 to 4% of the total number of embryos are in the pelvic insert. External fetal head rotation is a very important obstetric intervention that affects the reduced number of caesarean deliveries. A fetus in the breech position may be the result of a maternal or fetal abnormality, or it may be purely coincidental. The role of the midwife in the external rotation of the fetus on the head is very important. Pregnant women are not sufficiently aware of the possibility of the external fetal rotation and are not sufficiently professionally informed about the course of this intervention. They come to the rotation procedure overly anxious and mentally poorly prepared. The aim of the Master's thesis is to study the role of the midwife in the external rotation of the fetus in pregnant women with a fetus in the breech position. Methods: The Master's thesis is based on a descriptive method of work and a quantitative research approach. We used a survey technique to collect the primary data. The survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire during the treatment of pregnant candidates for the external fetal rotation trial at the Ljubljana maternity hospital. Results: The findings of our research show that the pregnant women included in the research were satisfied with prenatal care. In addition, they were sufficiently and qualitatively informed and came to the treatment positively prepared. The respondents rated the midwife as the most important professional person on the day of the treatment (external fetal rotation attempt). 50 pregnant respondents took part in the research. Discussion: The basic premise of every pregnant woman surveyed is that she wants a vaginal birth, so most of them choose to attempt an external fetal rotation during pregnancy. Based on the results of the research, we conclude that the midwife is an extremely important member of the team in the holistic treatment of the pregnant woman.
