Sem štejemo predvsem bolezni srca in ožilja, sladkorno bolezen, depresijo, demenco, kronično obstruktivno pljučno bolezen, astmo, debelost, raka in funkcionalno manjzmožnost, še zlasti pri starejših. Z dobrim sodelovanjem in povezovanjem vseh izvajalcev preventive krepimo zdravje lokalnega prebivalstva, vključujemo ranljive skupine in zmanjšujemo neenakosti v zdravju. Pri ostalih so bili ugotovljeni še pomanjkanje telesne aktivnosti, zvišan krvni tlak, stres, debelost, neustrezna prehrana, kajenje in povišan krvni sladkor.

Title:PATIENT AWARENESS OF CHRONIC DISEASE SCREENING PROGRAMS
Abstract:ABSTRACT Theoretical background: Chronic non-communicable diseases are a heavy burden on society, which is increasing with the ageing of the population. These include mainly cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, depression, dementia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, obesity, cancer and functional disability, especially in the elderly. It is very important to try to reduce the risk factors that affect the development of a chronic non-communicable disease at a young age with a healthy lifestyle. The most common risk factors that accelerate the development of chronic non-communicable diseases are smoking, unhealthy eating and obesity, insufficient physical activity, risky and harmful drinking of alcohol, increased blood pressure, high cholesterol and blood sugar levels, and stress. It is very important to raise awareness and inform patients about screening programmes. With good cooperation and networking of all prevention providers, we strengthen the health of the local population, include vulnerable groups and reduce health inequalities. The purpose of the thesis was to explore patient awareness of chronic disease screening programs. Methods: The research was based on a quantitative method of work; a descriptive research method was used. Primary data were obtained using the survey technique, using a survey questionnaire that was designed on the basis of a review of domestic professional literature. The study included 136 random patients from the Dolenjska region, over 30 years of age, of different genders and education, who received an invitation to a preventive examination at a referral clinic and responded to it or did not attend the examination despite the invitation. Results: The results show that as many as 96 % (131) of respondents are aware of at least one of the listed screening programmes for chronic non-communicable diseases, while 4 % (5) of respondents are unaware of any. The most well-known are the Dora and Zora programmes, these two programmes were recognised by 119 (88 %) respondents. We note that respondents are aware of the purpose of conducting screening programs. 117 (86 %) responded that screening was primarily intended to detect early people at high risk of developing a chronic disease. 75 (53 %) believe that prevention programmes aim to take appropriate action, provide advice to manage risk factors and make lifestyle changes. 52 (38 %) of respondents believe that screening actively monitors a person's health, and 15 (11 %) of respondents believe that the purpose of screening is to control the patient's life. The most common risk factor identified in patients who responded to an invitation for an adult preventive examination was elevated blood cholesterol. Elevated values were found in 29 (48 %) of respondents. Lack of physical activity, increased blood pressure, stress, obesity, inadequate diet, smoking and high blood sugar were also found in others. Discussion: We find that patient awareness and education about screening programs is of utmost importance, as it makes patients more motivated to participate in these programs. The key role in health promotion and patient motivation is played by the selected doctor and nurse in the family medicine clinic and other health professionals who work with them. These are a community nurse, a psychologist, a kinesiologist, a dietitian and others who are involved in preventive treatment. The cooperation of the entire team is extremely important for the effective and high-quality implementation of the treatment. In order for a registered nurse to perform their work with quality and professionalism, it is necessary to constantly educate and improve their work.
