Abstract:Rojstvo otroka za bodočo mamo pomeni izziv.

Title:The effect of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation in the active phase of labor on the need for pharmacological analgesia
Abstract:The birth of a child for an expectant mother is a challenge. Although this is generally the most beautiful moment of her life, associated with happiness and anticipation, negative emotions are often present, especially the fear of pain, which is an inevitable part of every birth. The purpose of this master's thesis is to examine the impact of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) on the need for pharmacological analgesia using professional literature. We conducted a critical review of the literature to examine the impact of TENS on the need for pharmacological analgesia during the active phase of labor. We used a descriptive method in our in-depth study of literature. Research has shown that TENS does indeed reduce the need for pharmacological analgesia during the active phase of labor. TENS does not replace pharmacological methods completely, but it does reduce the need for strong analgesics used in epidural analgesia, which is an important advantage as it allows pregnant women to maintain greater mobility during labor. Research confirms that TENS delays the need for pharmacological analgesia and is most effective during the active phase of labor.
