Abstract:Uvod in namen: Hernia disci (v nadaljevanju: HD) je najpogostejša posledica degenerativnih sprememb hrbtenice.

Title:Effectiveness of postoperative rehabilitation after lumbar spine herniated disc surgery
Abstract:Introduction and purpose: Herniated disc (hereafter: HD) is the most common consequence of degenerative changes in the spine. Patients usually report severe pain in the lumbar spine, tingling, loss of sensation, muscle weakness or even paresis. When the pain persists despite conservative treatment, surgery is suggested to the patient, which is usually associated with postoperative pain, reduced range of motion of the spine, and the performance of daily activities. Therefore, it is very important to involve patients in postoperative rehabilitation. The purpose of the thesis was to determine the effectiveness of postoperative rehabilitation after HD lumbar spine surgery. Methods: For the thesis, research was conducted using the standardized questionnaire Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Index for assessing the patient's daily and physical capabilities. 52 patients after HD lumbar spine surgery were included in the study. Results: The results of the research show that the intensity of pain in the lumbar spine and in the leg statistically significantly decreased for the patients after the rehabilitation after HD lumbar spine surgery, and the patient's ability to perform daily and physical activities improved. Usability: The results of our research are useful in the rehabilitation process after HD surgery, as they show that postoperative rehabilitation plays a key role in reducing pain and increasing patients' capacity to perform daily and physical activities. Limitations: We see the limitation of our research in the small sample size and the shorter follow-up period of the patients.
