Metode dela: Pregledali smo relevantno literaturo iz podatkovnih baz PubMed in Google Scholar. Za pridobivanje ustrezne literature smo uporabili naslednje ključne besede: multiple sclerosis (multipla skleroza), physiotherapy (fizioterapija), mobility assessment (ocena mobilnosti), rehabilitation (rehabilitacija) in functional mobility tests (funkcionalni testi mobilnosti).

Abstract:Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease of the central nervous system that leads to progressive mobility impairments. Monitoring and assessing of mobility are essential for planning therapeutic interventions and improving the quality of life for individuals with MS. Physiotherapy approaches, which include specific walking tests and mobility assessments, represent a crucial part of rehabilitation. Aim: This thesis explored the most commonly used tests for evaluating mobility in individuals with MS and investigated changes in mobility over time. Methods: A comprehensive review of relevant literature was conducted using databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar. The following keywords were used to retrieve appropriate literature: multiple sclerosis, physiotherapy, mobility assessment, rehabilitation, and functional mobility tests. The selected literature was carefully reviewed and included in the thesis based on predefined inclusion criteria. Results: The findings revealed that many tests are valid and reliable for assessing mobility in MS patients; however, the choice of tests depends on the specific needs and conditions of each patient. Research results indicate a gradual decline in mobility over time, particularly among patients with advanced MS. Discussion: Physiotherapy plays a significant role in supporting mobility and slowing disease progression. Future research should adopt multidimensional approaches that encompass not only mobility but also cognitive and sensory functions while focusing on the development of individualized treatment protocols.
