Abstract:Introduction: Good interpersonal relationships and effective communication form the foundation of successful collaboration among team members, which consequently impacts the well-being of patients and ensures safe and high-quality care. For proper mutual understanding, it is essential to be aware of various factors, such as the effectiveness of information transfer, proper interpretation of information, and conflict resolution. The main aim of this thesis is to explore how different factors influence effective communication between nurses and doctors in emergency medical services. Methods: In this thesis, a descriptive method is used. It includes a literature review, for which we employed the PRISMA diagram. Various databases were used to search for data, with the analysis including the use of keywords as well as inclusion and exclusion criteria. The gathered literature was used to answer the research questions posed. Results: Effective communication is essential for ensuring optimal patient care and successful treatment. Such communication improves collaboration in patient care and reduces risks, such as treatment errors or misinterpretation of information. Nevertheless, many different factors influence effective communication, and healthcare professionals should be aware of these to address potential issues and effectively deal with communication errors. Conclusions: Effective communication is crucial in stressful and challenging environments, such as emergency medical services. To ensure patient safety and optimal care, team members must communicate appropriately and be aware of the factors that influence such communication. By employing various communication strategies, potential issues could be fully or at least partially prevented, thereby avoiding negative consequences.
