Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Osteoporoza je kronična presnovna bolezen kosti, ki predstavlja pomembno javnozdravstveno težavo.

Title:MEDICAL TREATMENT OF A PATIENT WITH OSTEOPOROSIS
Abstract:Introduction: Osteoporosis is chronic metabolic bone disease that represents a significant public health problem. It is characterized by reduced bone mass and changes in the microarchitecture of bone tissue, which leads to increased bone fragility and a higher probability of fractures. The problem with this disease is that it often remains unrecognized for a long time or is recognized only after the first fracture. The purpose of the study was to investigate the medical treatment of patients with osteoporosis at the primary health care level, from the perspective of nurses in community care, referral clinics and health promotion centers. Methods: We used a qualitative research approach and a descriptive work method. Data were collected through semi–structured interviews with six graduate nurses working at the primary level. The data were analyzed content–wise, and the interviewees' responses were coded and interpreted. Results: Patients with osteoporosis face pain, reduced mobility, psychological problems, fear of falls and lack of information during medical treatment. Nurses emphasize the importance of early recognition, health education and participation in preventive and therapeutic activities. They cite poor patient awareness, lack of staff and time and limited access to specialist treatment as the biggest challenges. Discussion: The results confirm that the role of nurses in the comprehensive treatment of patients with osteoporosis is extremely important. Preventive activities and interdisciplinary cooperation need to be strengthened and access to appropriate information and services improved.
