Title:PREVENTION THE SPREAD OF INFECTIONS DURING AMBULANCE TRANSPORT
Abstract:ABSTRACT Background: Preventing the spread of infections during ambulance transport is crucial. It is equally important that healthcare personnel and patients use proper mandatory personal protective equipment during transport to maximize their safety. The crucial factors in infection prevention are the healthcare personnel’s sufficient knowledge, sufficient experience, and proper behavior in stressful or demanding situations. The purpose of this research was to determine the actual situation in the field of infection prevention during ambulance transport. Through this approach, we obtained data on how infection prevention is done in practice Methods: The research was conducted using the quantitative method. We reviewed the COBISS bibliographic database and professional literature and searched primary and secondary sources. Data for analysis were obtained using a survey questionnaire prepared on the 1ka online platform. We obtained 107 fully completed survey questionnaires. Results: The research showed that the biggest problems in limiting infections during ambulance transport are inconsistent adherence to protocols, imprecise instructions, a demanding work environment and stressful conditions, and sometimes a lack of equipment and available time for thorough disinfection of the vehicle and equipment. Discussion: We found that in the process of prevention of infectious disease transmission in ambulances, instructions and regulations regarding the disinfection of hands and surfaces in the vehicle (especially door handles, stretcher handles, and other surfaces that are repeatedly touched by healthcare workers and patients) are followed insufficiently. The solution to this problem lies in additional education and the development of a work culture that ensures this is not merely another obligation but that it strengthens awareness of the importance of such practices. This requires teamwork – each employee contributes to collective success.
