Abstract:Uvod: V sodobnem zdravstvu sta učinkovita komunikacija in sodelovanje med zaposlenimi ključna za varno in učinkovito obravnavo pacientov. Kljub pomembnosti tega področja ostajajo slovenski podatki o kakovosti medpoklicne komunikacije skopi. V Splošni bolnišnici Murska Sobota smo zato želeli natančno oceniti, kako zdravniki, medicinske sestre/zdravstveni tehniki in fizioterapevti vrednotijo medpoklicno sodelovanje in komunikacijo.

Abstract:Introduction: In modern healthcare, effective communication and collaboration among staff are essential for the safe and efficient care of patients. Despite the importance of this area, data on the quality of interprofessional communication in Slovenia remain scarce. This is especially true for professional groups such as physiotherapists. At the General Hospital Murska Sobota, we therefore aimed to thoroughly assess how physicians, nurses/medical technicians, and physiotherapists evaluate interprofessional collaboration and communication. Methods: A survey was conducted among 84 employees (27 physicians, 29 nurses, and 28 physiotherapists). The questionnaire included positively worded statements about the importance of communication and negatively worded statements addressing hierarchy and unresolved disagreements. All items were rated using a four-point Likert scale. For each professional group, we calculated the proportion of strong agreement with the positive statements and the proportion of disagreement with the hierarchical statements. Results: The study showed that 86% of all respondents emphasized the importance of clear and structured communication and its contribution to treatment outcomes. However, differences between professions were notable: 64% of physiotherapists felt that physicians placed their work in a subordinate position, and 46% reported frequent unresolved disagreements with physicians. Among nurses, 32% reported such unresolved disagreements. Discussion: Our findings indicate that team members recognize communication as a key factor in successful interdisciplinary collaboration and patient care. However, physiotherapists in particular experience communication as hierarchically constrained and insufficient. This is reflected in their frequent feelings of subordination and the lack of conflict resolution, which may hinder information flow and compromise the quality of patient care.
