Bitcoin in ethereum nista take vrste kriptovaluti, saj sta količinsko omejeni, zato investiranje vanje lahko premoženje posameznika obvaruje pred inflacijo.

Title:PRICES OF CRYPTOCURRENCIES AND PRECIOUS METALS IN RELATION TO INFLATION:ANALYSIS OF THE PERIOD 2020-2024
Abstract:Investing is important because it allows for the preservation or increase of the investor's assets. Among various types of investments, such as real and financial investments, investments in development and research, in knowledge and in acquiring customers, investments in cryptocurrencies and precious metals have recently played an increasingly important role. The risk in investing, of course, depends on the profitability of an individual investment - the higher the return, the greater the risk and vice versa. The fact is that certain situations in the process of investing cannot be predicted and therefore we always take risks. An example of one such situation is inflation. In Slovenia, we successfully maintained it below the inflation target until the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, and in 2021, its value was significantly and clearly affected by the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The latter also had an impact on the fall in the value of Bitcoin - the first, best-known and most important cryptocurrency. In addition to changes in the economy, the value of cryptocurrencies is also affected by government decisions, tax regulations, news, social media, etc. In cases where cryptocurrencies are not limited, their value is also affected by inflation. Bitcoin and Ethereum are not such cryptocurrencies, as they are quantitatively limited, so investing in them can protect an individual's assets from inflation. The same applies to investing in precious metals, especially gold, silver and platinum. Based on theoretical premises, in the empirical part, we determine what is the connection between the value of inflation and the value of Bitcoin, how its monthly return was affected by the Russian-Ukrainian war, how the variability of the monthly return of Ethereum and silver differs, and what are the average monthly returns of Bitcoin, Ethereum, gold, silver and platinum in the period from 2020 to 2024.
