Title:Upanje in optimizem pri mladih s čustvenimi in vedenjskimi težavami

Abstract:Magistrska naloga obravnava vlogo upanja in optimizma kot dveh temeljnih dimenzij pozitivne psihologije pri mladih s čustvenimi in z vedenjskimi težavami in motnjami, ki so vključeni v Strokovne centre za otroke in mladostnike s čustvenimi in z vedenjskimi težavami in motnjami v Sloveniji. Temeljni cilj naloge je bil preveriti, v kolikšni meri sta upanje in optimizem povezana z izraženostjo čustvenih in vedenjskih težav ter v kakšni meri delujeta kot varovalna dejavnika v psihosocialno zahtevnem okolju. Teoretski del naloge se naslanja na sodobne pristope pozitivne psihologije, logoterapije in kritične družbene refleksije pozitivnih diskurzov. Poudarjena je tudi razsežnost smisla in eksistencialne odpornosti kot ključa za celostno razumevanje posameznikovega blagostanja. Empirični del raziskave temelji na kvantitativni analizi podatkov, zbranih s standardiziranima vprašalnikoma (HOPE in SDQ), ki ju je izpolnilo 135 mladih, starih med 10 in 16 let. Rezultati so pokazali statistično značilne negativne korelacije med zaznanim upanjem in optimizmom ter stopnjo vedenjskih in čustvenih težav. Ugotovitve podpirajo hipotezo, da mladi z višjo ravnjo upanja in optimizma doživljajo manj notranjih stisk in bolje funkcionirajo v vsakodnevnem življenju. Naloga se zaključi z jasnim sporočilom, da je pri delu z ranljivimi mladimi ključen celostni pristop. Ta vključuje krepitev njihovih notranjih moči, sodelovanje med različnimi strokami ter povezovanje različnih oblik pomoči. Tak način dela ne omogoča le učinkovite preventive, ampak mlademu človeku pomaga, da se razvije v trdno, samozavestno in celostno osebnost.

Title:Hope and Optimism in Young People with Emotional and Behavioral Problems
Abstract:Master’s thesis examines the role of hope and optimism as two fundamental dimensions of positive psychology among young people with emotional and behavioral problems who are included in Care home centers for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems in Slovenia. The primary aim of the thesis was to determine the extent to which hope and optimism are associated with the severity of emotional and behavioral problems and the extent to which they function as protective factors in a psychosocially demanding environment. The theoretical part draws on contemporary approaches in positive psychology, logotherapy, and critical social reflection on positive discourses. It also highlights the dimension of meaning and existential resilience as key to a holistic understanding of individual well-being. The empirical part of the study is based on a quantitative analysis of data collected using two standardized questionnaires (HOPE and SDQ), completed by 135 young people aged 10 to 16. The results showed statistically significant negative correlations between perceived hope and optimism and the severity of emotional and behavioral problems. The findings support the hypothesis that youth with higher levels of hope and optimism experience less internal distress and function better in everyday life. The thesis concludes with a clear message that working with vulnerable youth requires a holistic approach. This includes strengthening their inner resources, fostering collaboration across disciplines, and coordinating diverse forms of support. Such an approach not only enables effective prevention, but also helps the young person develop into a resilient, self-confident, and well-rounded individual.
