Abstract:Izhodišča: Parkinsonova bolezen je ena najpogostejših nevrodegenerativnih bolezni v starosti, katere napredovanje pomembno vpliva na kakovost vsakdanjega življenja bolnikov in zahteva celovito, individualizirano zdravstveno nego. Medicinske sestre imajo v celostni obravnavi teh bolnikov ključno vlogo pri zagotavljanju varnosti, ohranjanju samostojnosti in nudenju psihosocialne podpore bolnikom in njihovim svojcem.

Title:The Role of The Nurse in a Patient With Parkinsons Disease
Abstract:Introduction: Parkinson’s disease is one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders among the elderly, and its progression significantly affects patients’ quality of daily life while necessitating comprehensive, individualized nursing care. Nurses play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, independence, and psychosocial support for people with Parkinson’s disease and their families. Methods: This thesis is based on a systematic review of scientific literature using structured procedures for source selection, search, and analysis. The quality of sources was assessed according to the hierarchy of evidence, with a focus on the needs of patients with Parkinson’s disease and the nurse’s role in the nursing process. Results: The findings show that nurses’ comprehensive competencies are essential for effective management of Parkinson’s disease at every level of healthcare. Key factors include a multidisciplinary approach, active patient empowerment, ongoing education, and the provision of specialized support to families and caregivers. Discussion: The greatest challenges involve continuously changing patient needs, diverse nursing tasks, and organizational or systemic barriers. Strong emphasis is placed on psychosocial support and the development of national guidelines.
