Abstract:Kolenski sklep je glede na svojo strukturo in položaj eden izmed najbolj obremenjenih delov telesa.

Abstract:The knee joint, due to its anatomical structure and position, is one of the most heavily loaded joints in the human body. This is particularly evident in alpine skiing, where intense forces and substantial loads act on the knee joint. These forces and loads vary according to skiing technique, speed, changes in direction, and the demands of balance control. As a result of the accumulatiforces, forces acting on, the knee during skiing, the highest incidence of injuries occurs in this joint. Knee injuries are the most common injuries in alpine skiing, both in Slovenia and internationally, and their rehabilitation is crucial for a successful return to sport. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the risk factors, mechanisms, and causes of knee joint injuries among alpine skiers in Slovenia. The study sought to determine which knee injury is most prevalent among skiers, how these injuries are treated and whether surgical or conservative treatment is more commonly used. In the addition, the extent of physiotherapy intervention was examined, with particular emphasis on the proportion of inoatiet versus outpatient rehabilitation following knee joint injuries in Slovenian alpine skiers. The results showed that knee injuries are highly prevalent among alpine skiing, including physically active and experienced individuals. The most common injury is the anterior cruciate ligament rupture, typically occurring at higher speeds and on steeper terrain. The main risk factors identified were skiing conditions and poor skiing technique. Despite the severity of these injuries, the majority of respondents return to the sport; however, nearly half report persistent symptoms even after returning. Rehabilitation is often incomplete or prematurely discontinued, which increases the risk of re-injury and long-term complications.
