V diplomskem delu smo želeli raziskati odnos medicinskih sester do komplementarno-alternativnega zdravljenja in ugotoviti pogostost uporabe v klinični praksi.

Abstract:Theoretical background: We have been noticing for many years that people resort to alternative forms of treatment in a hospital environment. In this diploma thesis we wanted to research the attitude of nurses regarding the use of complementary and alternative treatment and to determine the frequency of its use in clinical practice. Method: In the diploma thesis we used a descriptive method of work for the theoretical part, and in the empirical part we used a quantitative methodology using a questionnaire. The empirical part was performed at General Hospital Murska Sobota in the internal medicine department and the surgery department in November 2018. The research sample was random and it included 40 nurses in the internal medicine department and 40 nurses in the surgical department. Results: 49 (61.3%) respondents had already heard of an alternative form of treatment, but did not know what the alternative treatment includes. 12 (15.0%) respondents stated that up till now, they have never heard of this method of treatment. The majority of respondents are still most in favor of formal, conventional medicine, citing 60 (75.0%) respondents. 26 (32.5%) respondents stated that doubts would be overcome exclusively by cooperation with doctors and formal medicine. More than half (50 - 62.5%) of the respondents estimate that they do not have enough knowledge about complementary - alternative medicine. Dissertation: Based on the research, we can conclude that nurses are familiar with complementary alternative medicine, but not enough to be skilled in counseling. Most of them still advocate formal medicine, but they are ready to educate and acquire knowledge in the unknown fields of complementary and alternative medicine, as more and more patients are deciding for this type of treatment.
