Title:General Rudolf Maister, slovenski nacionalni junak : doktorska disertacija študijskega programa tretje bolonjske stopnje Humanistične znanosti

Abstract:V središču raziskovalnega zanimanja doktorske disertacije sta spominjanje na generala Rudolfa Maistra kot na pomembno slovensko vojaško in družbeno vplivno osebnost s preloma iz 19. v 20. stoletje ter širše družbeno priznavanje njegovega vojaškega in državotvornega delovanja. Najprej so predstavljeni njegova življenjska pot in vojaška kariera v luči slovenskega narodnega vprašanja, prevzem oblasti v Mariboru v slovenske roke, obvarovanje meje na Štajerskem ter boj za slovensko Koroško in njena izguba na plebiscitu leta 1920. Sledi analiza Maistrovih domoljubnih dejanj in značajskih potez znotraj definicij junaštva ter klasifikacij različnih tipov junakov. Raziskovalni del disertacije je v celoti posvečen razčlembi javnih oblik spominjanja na generala Rudolfa Maistra v različnih zgodovinskih obdobjih: v času njegovega življenja, v obdobju od njegove smrti do konca druge svetovne vojne, v obdobju do slovenske osamosvojitve in v samostojni Sloveniji. Ikonografija javnih spomenikov, simbolika slovesnosti ob državnem prazniku, javnih govorov in drugih ritualnih dogodkov, poimenovanje ulic in ustanov, Maistrova podoba kot glavnega lika v literarnih delih za odrasle in mladino, njegova pojavnost v filmski in glasbeni umetnosti, vstop »blagovne znamke« z njegovim imenom in podobo v svet prodaje ter tudi v besednjak različnih organiziranih družbenih skupin so glavne teme raziskave. Na tej podlagi sta utemeljena razprava in sklep o prepoznavnosti generala Rudolfa Maistra v slovenski družbi, priznavanju njegovega statusa in razsežnostih tega dejstva.

Abstract:The doctoral dissertation focuses on the remembrance of General Rudolf Maister as an important Slovenian military and socially influential figure at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, and the broader social recognition of his military and state-building activities. First, his life and military career are presented in the context of the Slovenian national question, the assumption of power in Maribor by Slovenes, the defence of the Styrian border, and the struggle for Slovenian Carinthia and its eventual loss in the 1920 plebiscite. This is followed by an analysis of Maister's patriotic deeds and character traits in the context of definitions of heroism and typologies of heroes. The research part of the dissertation is entirely devoted to analysing the public forms of remembrance of General Rudolf Maister in different historical periods: during his lifetime, from his death to the end of World War II, in the period leading up to Slovenian independence, and in independent Slovenia. The iconography of public monuments, the symbolism of national holiday ceremonies, public speeches, and other ritual events, the naming of streets and institutions, Maister's portrayal as the main character in literary works for adults and young readers, his representation in film and music, the commercialisation of his name and image, and the use of his figure in the vocabulary of various organized social groups constitute the main topics of the research. On this basis, the dissertation presents a discussion and draws conclusions on the recognition of General Rudolf Maister in Slovenian society, the acknowledgment of his status, and the scope of his recognition.
