Abstract:Magistrska naloga obravnava pojav tehnološkega stresa in izgorelosti v velikih tehnoloških podjetjih v Sloveniji.

Title:The Impact of Technological Stress on Burnout in Slovenian Technology Companies
Abstract:The master’s thesis examines the phenomenon of technostress and burnout in large technology companies in Slovenia. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part, based on domestic and international literature, we define stress as a psychosocial risk factor, present the distinction between eustress and distress, and explain technostress as a specific form of stress related to the digitalization of work processes. We describe in more detail the main dimensions of technostress (techno-overload, techno-invasion, techno-complexity, techno-uncertainty and techno-insecurity), their impact on employee well-being, and their association with burnout. We also discuss the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) model, the role of high-quality leisure time, and the specific characteristics of digital transformation in technology-oriented companies in Slovenia. In the empirical part, using an online survey questionnaire developed on the basis of established measurement scales, we investigated the occurrence of technostress and burnout among white-collar employees in selected large technology companies. The survey was conducted via the 1KA platform. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and non-parametric tests of differences. The results show that, on average, employees experience more pronounced techno-overload, and that chronic technostress is significantly associated with higher levels of burnout. We found that the introduction of new technology often contributes to a deterioration in interpersonal relationships and a reduced sense of competence among employees, while the discontinuation of older digital tools can reinforce feelings of inadequacy. The analyses did not confirm statistically significant differences in the experience of technostress with regard to gender and level of education, which indicates that digital demands place a similar burden on different groups of employees. Chronic technostress also proved to be significantly associated with lower-quality use of leisure time and vacation. The findings suggest that, in order to reduce the risk of burnout, it is crucial how organizations manage digital transformation processes, support employees in the adoption of new technologies, and strengthen the balance between work and private life.
