Title:THE THERAPY DOG AS SUPPORT IN COPING WITH TRAUMA
Abstract:Trauma is an experience that exceeds an individual’s ability to cope with stress and often leads to disturbances on physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral levels. In the recovery process, establishing a sense of safety, emotional regulation, and gradual processing of the traumatic experience are crucial. In recent years, dog-assisted therapy has been increasingly recognized as a complementary support method for individuals with traumatic experiences, as it positively influences physical and psychological responses and increases motivation for the therapeutic process
Keywords:Therapy dog, Trauma, Psychological support, Coping with trauma, Canine-assisted therapy.
