Abstract:Diplomska naloga obravnava vlogo medicinske sestre pri preprečevanju in obvladovanju elektrolitskega neravnovesja pri starostnikih. Elektrolitske motnje predstavljajo pomemben klinični problem, saj lahko pri starostnikih zaradi fizioloških sprememb, kroničnih bolezni, polifarmakoterapije ter zmanjšanega vnosa tekočin in hrane povzročijo resne zdravstvene zaplete. Namen raziskave je bil preučiti, katere dejavnike tveganja medicinske sestre prepoznavajo pri starostnikih, katera zdravila in terapije najpogosteje prispevajo k nastanku elektrolitskega neravnovesja, katere simptome zdravstveni delavci najpogosteje prepoznajo ter kakšen je pomen prehrane in hidracije pri preprečevanju teh motenj.

Title:THE ROLE OF THE NURSE IN PREVENTING ELECTROLYTE IMBALANCE IN THE ELDERLY
Abstract:This bachelor’s thesis addresses the role of the nurse in the prevention and management of electrolyte imbalance in older adults. Electrolyte disorders represent an important clinical issue, as in older adults they may lead to serious health complications due to physiological changes, chronic diseases, polypharmacy, and reduced intake of fluids and food. The aim of the study was to examine which risk factors nurses recognize in older adults, which medications and therapies most frequently contribute to electrolyte imbalance, which symptoms are most commonly identified by healthcare workers, and what role nutrition and hydration play in preventing these disorders.
