Metode: Uporabljeni so bili kvantitativni raziskovalni pristop, deskriptivna metoda zbiranja podatkov z analizo znanstveno-strokovne literature, metoda kompilacije, metoda sklepanja in statistična metoda.

Title:The Role and Importance of Knowledge management in a Health Care Institution
Abstract:Introduction: Knowledge management is a discipline that uses processes to carry out practical work in a healthcare institution. It involves the search, creation and transfer of knowledge, its reuse, awareness of knowledge, and learning throughout the entire institution. This creates and enhances intellectual capital. The purpose of the research was to investigate the role and importance of knowledge management in healthcare institutions. We investigated the processes and factors of knowledge management, tools and methods, the perception of the necessity of lifelong learning and continuous professional development, and ways to improve strategies. Methods: A quantitative research approach was used, along with a descriptive method of data collection with analysis of scientific and professional literature, a compilation method, an inferential method, and a statistical method. The sample mainly included registered nurses, aged from 20 to over 60, who had work experience from 1 to 30 years. The study included 101 people employed at all levels of healthcare, with roles in administration, middle management, and direct provision of services. Results: We found that the cause of quality services is quality knowledge management. Employees frequently use certain information and communication technology tools. Mentoring is important for knowledge transfer. Nurses accept new knowledge but face obstacles. Motivated individuals, who are more receptive to new knowledge, are important. Employees highlight the importance of a positive, supportive environment for engagement in lifelong learning. Discussion: Based on the findings, it would be advisable to introduce a three-dimensional model of knowledge management in a healthcare institution with three substantive starting points, through which nurses and their managers would self-reflectively assess the effectiveness of their work and contribute to even safer, higher-quality, and more confident healthcare for healthcare service users.
