Abstract:Diplomsko delo prikazuje večletno raziskovanje in spoznavanje waldorfske pedagogike.

Title:Factors Influencing Parents Decison to Enroll their Children in a Waldorf Kindergarthen
Abstract:The diploma thesis presents several years of research and learning about Waldorf pedagogy. In modern times, interest in alternative pedagogical approaches is increasing, therefore, this diploma examines the factors that influence parents' decisions to enroll their child in a Waldorf kindergarten. The purpose was to determine how individuals understand Waldorf education, what associations they have with it, their interest in an alternative educational approach, as well as which factors most attract parents to enroll and which represent potential concerns. The theoretical part presents the history of preschool education, different concepts of preschool education (Waldorf pedagogy, Maria Montessori, Reggio Emillia), the founder of the Waldorf education Rudolf Steiner, the origins of the Waldorf Kindergarten, a description of daily routines, curriculum structure, Waldorf kindergartens worldwide, and a comparison between Slovenia and other European Union countries in the field of preschool education. The empirical part presents the results obtained using a quantitative research method. The results were statistically processed and interpreted using PSPP and Excel programs. The survey was completed by parents from the Goriška region, with a total of 155 participating parents. The results indicate that parents are familiar with the functioning of Waldorf education, but more than half of the respondents had not considered enrolling their child in a Waldorf kindergarten. Parents like the Waldorf connection with nature, the use of natural materials and the emphasis of free play. However, we also find concerns regarding nutrition, price and location.
