Abstract:Kronične rane pri starostnikih predstavljajo pomemben zdravstveni, negovalni in organizacijski problem, saj so povezane s staranjem, z multimorbidnostjo, zmanjšano mobilnostjo, s podhranjenostjo, slabšo prekrvitvijo, z nevropatijo in večjim tveganjem za okužbo. Zaradi dolgotrajnega celjenja, pogostih zapletov in velikega vpliva na kakovost življenja zahtevajo celostno, individualizirano in na dokazih podprto obravnavo.

Title:THE ROLE OF THE NURSE IN CARING FOR AN OLDER ADULT WITH CHRONIC WOUND
Abstract:Chronic wounds in older adults represent a significant health, nursing, and organizational problem, as they are associated with ageing, multimorbidity, reduced mobility, malnutrition, impaired circulation, neuropathy, and an increased risk of infection. Due to prolonged healing, frequent complications, and a substantial impact on quality of life, they require a holistic, individualized, and evidence-based approach. In this process, the nurse plays a key role in wound assessment, planning and implementing nursing care, selecting appropriate dressings, monitoring healing, and preventing complications. The aim of this diploma thesis was to examine the role of the nurse in caring for an older adult with a chronic wound, with a particular emphasis on pressure injuries
Keywords:chronic wounds, pressure injuries, nursing care of older adults, wound care, nurse, prevention
