Metode dela: V diplomskem delu smo uporabili deskriptivno metodo, metodo komparacije, metodo kompilacije in metodo sinteze. Znanstvenoraziskovalne članke smo iskali v podatkovnih bazah PubMed, PEDro in Google Scholar.

Abstract:Introduction: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is a three-dimensional deformity of the spine of unknown origin that affects up to 5% of the population and is more common in girls. The progression of scoliosis can cause pain, limited functionality, breathing difficulties, and mental health issues. Objectives: The purpose of this thesis is to review the professional literature and compare the effects of the Schroth method and conventional physical therapy approaches in the rehabilitation of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Methods: In this thesis, we used descriptive, comparative, compilation, and synthesis methods. We searched for scientific research articles in the PubMed, PEDro and Google Scholar databases. We focused on foreign literature published within the last 10 years. Results: The Schroth Method and conventional forms of physical therapy can help correct spinal curvature, improve lung function, and enhance patients’ quality of life. However, the Schroth Method has proven to be far more effective. Discussion and conclusion: The Schroth method has proven to be the preferred approach in the rehabilitation of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Conventional forms of physical therapy can serve as a complementary form of treatment or as an alternative therapy for mild cases of scoliosis.
