Title:Knjiga kot oblika arhivskega gradiva in njeno materialno varstvo v Zgodovinskem arhivu Ljubljana – Enota za Gorenjsko Kranj : magistrsko delo študijskega programa druge bolonjske stopnje Arhivistika in dokumentologija

Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava materialno varstvo knjižnega gradiva v arhivih. Predstavlja zakonodajne podlage, strokovne smernice in načela hrambe arhivskega gradiva s poudarkom na knjižnem gradivu kot specifični obliki arhivskega gradiva. Obravnavani so materiali in strukturni elementi knjige ter najpogostejši dejavniki poškodb in tveganj pri hrambi. Za pripravo teoretičnega dela so bile uporabljene metoda kompilacije, analiza strokovne literature, zakonodaje ter že objavljenih raziskav. Empirični del temelji na analizi izbranega knjižnega gradiva iz Zgodovinskega arhiva Ljubljana – Enota za Gorenjsko Kranj ter na intervjuju z vodjo arhiva. Oblikovan je bil strukturiran obrazec za popis gradiva, usmerjen v evidentiranje materialov, vezav, poškodb, stanja ohranjenosti in pogojev hrambe. Analiza je pokazala, da je večina obravnavanega gradiva srednje do slabše ohranjenega. Najpogosteje se pojavljajo mehanske poškodbe knjižnega bloka, hrbta in platnic ter spremembe na papirju, kot so porumenelost, lisavost in deformacije. Rezultati raziskave kažejo, da pogoji hrambe niso v celoti prilagojeni specifičnim zahtevam knjižnega gradiva, predvsem zaradi temperaturnih nihanj in neustreznih mikroklimatskih pogojev. Kljub uporabi zaščitne embalaže so potrebni dodatni ukrepi za dolgoročno ohranjanje gradiva. Na podlagi analize so bili oblikovani predlogi za izboljšanje materialnega varstva, ki vključujejo predvsem zagotavljanje stabilnejših mikroklimatskih pogojev, omejevanje rokovanja z občutljivim gradivom ter nadaljnjo uporabo zaščitne embalaže. Raziskava potrjuje pomen poznavanja materialne strukture knjige in prilagojenih pogojev hrambe za učinkovito materialno varstvo knjižnega gradiva v arhivih.

Abstract:The master’s thesis discusses the preservation of archival book material in archives. It presents the legal framework, professional guidelines and principles of archival preservation, with particular emphasis on archival book material as a specific form of archival records. The thesis examines the materials and structural elements of books, as well as the most common causes of damage and storage-related risks. The theoretical part is based on the compilation method, analysis of professional literature, legislation, and previously published research. The empirical part is based on the analysis of selected archival book material from the Historical Archives Ljubljana – Unit for Gorenjska Kranj, as well as on an interview with the head of the archive. A structured survey form was developed for documenting materials, bindings, damage, condition, and storage conditions. The analysis showed that most of the examined material is in moderate to poor condition. The most common forms of damage include mechanical damage to the text block, spine, and covers, as well as paper deterioration such as yellowing, staining, and deformation. The results indicate that storage conditions are not fully adapted to the specific requirements of archival book material, mainly due to temperature fluctuations and unsuitable microclimatic conditions. Despite the use of archives boxex, additional measures are required to ensure the long-term preservation of the material. Based on the analysis, proposals for improving preservation measures were formulated, including the provision of more stable microclimatic conditions, limiting the handling of sensitive material, and the continued use of archives boxes. The research confirms the importance of understanding the material structure of books and adapting storage conditions in order to ensure effective preservation of archival book material in archives.
