Abstract:Magistrska naloga preučuje vlogo neformalne komunikacije na delovnem mestu in njen vpliv na zaznano stresnost in dobro počutje zaposlenih. Neformalna komunikacija je pomemben, a pogosto spregledan vidik delovanja organizacije, saj poteka zunaj formalnih komunikacijskih struktur, hkrati pa pomembno vpliva na medosebne odnose, pretok informacij in organizacijsko klimo. Naraščajoče delovne obremenitve in vse večja kompleksnost organizacij poudarjajo pomen socialne podpore, kakovostnih medosebnih odnosov in učinkovite komunikacije pri ohranjanju psihološkega dobrega počutja zaposlenih.

Title:Informal Communication as a Stress Buffer: The Importance of Social Interactions Among Coworkers
Abstract:The master's thesis examines the role of informal communication in the workplace and its impact on employees' perceived stress and well-being. Informal communication is an important yet often overlooked aspect of organizational functioning, as it takes place outside formal communication structures while significantly influencing interpersonal relationships, information flow, and the organizational climate. Increasing workloads and the growing complexity of organizations highlight the importance of social support, quality interpersonal relationships, and effective communication in maintaining employees' psychological well-being. The empirical part of the study is based on a survey involving 133 employees. The results show that employees generally perceive informal communication positively and associate it with improved well-being and reduced stress. Higher perceived accessibility and usefulness of informal communication were statistically significantly associated with greater perceived stress reduction. Employees who engage more frequently in informal conversations also reported greater emotional relief. Among the functions of informal communication, respondents rated relationship building the highest, followed by facilitating information flow and encouraging creativity, while emotional support received slightly lower ratings. The findings also show that face-to-face conversations are the most common form of informal communication, whereas digital channels play a less important role in informal interactions. Furthermore, no statistically significant relationship was found between the perceived usefulness of informal communication and employees' level of education. Overall, the study confirms that informal communication is an important social resource within organizations, contributing to stress reduction, improved employee well-being, and stronger interpersonal relationships and organizational cohesion.
