Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava ključni in najpomembnejši trenutek slovenske zgodovine, to je nastanek samostojne in neodvisne države ter njene diplomacije.

Abstract:The master's thesis deals with the key and most important moment of Slovenian history, namely the emergence of an autonomous and independent country and its diplomacy. In parallel with the birth of an independent state, it was also necessary to form anew the Slovenian diplomacy, which had previously been a part of the Yugoslav one. In spite of the Slovenian diplomatic apparatus being small, dealing with staff, technical and financial problems, they managed to persuade the international community within six months that Slovenia deserved international recognition. Before gaining independence, Slovenian diplomacy had intentionally implemented diplomatic activities seeking support in neighbouring countries and beyond. After winning independence, the most difficult task had to be performed % the struggle for international recognition. Striving for recognition, Slovenian diplomats needed not only their own skills, but also the support of foreign politicians and diplomats, who decided whether or not Slovenia deserved the right to self-determination. Through the memories of foreign politicians and diplomats of key importance for Slovenia, we have presented their influence on the birth of a new, internationally recognized state. We have also presented what made them decide for unanimous recognition of Slovenia as an independent and autonomous country.
