Abstract:Integracija psihoterapij pomeni združevanje različnih pristopov v celovito terapijo, ki omogoča bolj učinkovito terapevtsko obravnavo klientov.

Title:Integration of Brainspotting Therapy into Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
Abstract:Integration of psychotherapies means combining different approaches into a holistic therapy that enables more effective therapeutic treatment of clients. The purpose of the integration is to use the best elements of an individual approach, which complement each other and can together more effectively address individual needs of clients. In practice, integration of psychotherapies is well established, since therapists use it to adapt the therapy based on the needs of clients. This increases the effectiveness of therapeutic treatment and the possibility of a positive outcome of therapy. In the Master’s thesis, we analysed, if the integration of brainspotting therapy into cognitive-behavioural therapy is reasonable from the view of effectiveness of the therapeutic process. In the theoretical part of the thesis, we used data, collected from professional literature, to thoroughly present both approaches, emphasize the meaning and purpose of the integration of psychotherapies and define the psychological trauma and traumatic memory and its consequences. In the empirical part, we presented results, which were obtained with the use of a questionnaire with open questions. The results present answers of fourteen therapists, who at their work perform cognitive-behavioural therapy for at least ten years and the brainspotting therapy for at least three years. The analysis of the presented answers has confirmed our hypothesis that therapists see the possibility of the integration of brainspotting therapy into cognitive-behavioural therapy and that each psychotherapeutic approach has its advantages and weaknesses and that such integration is effective for certain problems of clients, particularly those, who are connected with a trauma or traumatic memory, while in the case of some problems or clients such integration is not suitable or does not increase the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioural therapy, like: more severe mental problems, dementia, children under 12 years, persons with brain damage etc.
