Izvedeni so bili štirje intervjuji. Ob pristopu k shemi in z oblikovanjem nove Strategije razvoja in trženja turizma Doline Soče 2025+ v letu 2020 je destinacija še bolj premišljeno in strukturirano začrtala trajnostno pot naprej.

Title:Sustainable tourism development in Soča Valley
Abstract:Sustainable tourism, or environmentally friendly, green tourism, is the form of tourism on which the development strategy of global and Slovenian tourism is based today. In the master's thesis we studied the development of sustainable tourism in the Soča Valley. The Soča Valley spreads over the municipalities of Bovec, Kobarid and Tolmin, and has recently been joined by the municipality of Kanal ob Soči. The Slovenian Tourist Board ranks the Soča Valley as one of the leading destinations in Slovenian tourism and one of the most visible outdoor destinations in the country. The research aimed to find out how the destination develops its tourism and how successful it is in developing sustainability, which is recognised as the most appropriate form of tourism development. The theoretical part includes a definition of sustainable tourism development, presentation of the Soča Valley as a tourist destination and competitiveness in tourism. In the empirical part, a combined research approach was implemented. It consists of quantitative research, surveying the local population, visitors to the destination and the tourism economy, and qualitative research, interviewing the most prominent managers of tourism development in the destination. Four interviews were conducted with representatives of municipalities, the Soča Valley Tourism Board and the Triglav National Park. The findings show that sustainable tourism is recognised as the only possible form of development in the destination, that the Soča Valley is moving towards sustainable development in a well thought out and organised way, but that the destination is still at the beginning of its sustainable development path. In 2019, it joined the national scheme - the Green Tourism Development Scheme, which is a national programme and certification scheme for sustainable tourism development, for which the Slovenian Tourist Board has received numerous international awards. By joining the scheme and by creating a new Tourism Development and Marketing Strategy for the Soča Valley 2025+ in 2020, the destination has mapped out a sustainable way forward in an even more thoughtful and structured way. The sustainable orientation is recognised by planners, visitors, providers and local people alike, and it will be necessary to follow the set objectives in a planned way and work towards sustainable development that benefits all stakeholders in the destination.
