Title:The mental health and social life of Šent Celeia Celje users during the COVID-19 epidemic
Abstract:Many among us have probably heard the expression "A picture is worth more than a thousand words". Therefore, a taste is worth a thousand pictures, and an experience a thousand tastes. Words like virus, infection, epidemic, quarantine are not completely foreign to us. Let us just remember how topical the bird flu or the Ebola virus were. We could witness with our own eyes the consequences and devastation it brought to the local population. Rumors were spread that it might reach us and how we will have to adapt to it. In the end, however, citizens of Slovenia and the rest of the world remained merely observers. We continued with our lives as usual and might only panicked in some moments until the main blow hit us. Among the people who found themselves in this situation were the users of the day center ŠENT Celeia Celje. In our diploma thesis we wanted to find out what effects did the epidemic have on the mental health and social lives of these users during the lockdown, how the users viewed this situation, and what were the consequences. For our research we made an online survey which mainly consisted of closed questions, and some questions also included answers with different intensity ranges. 25 users participated in this survey – 12 male and 13 female – who are active users of ŠENT. The main findings of our research were that the COVID-19 epidemic played an important role in changes and the state of the users regarding their mental health and social life and their reactions to it.
