Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Znanje o razvoju in vzgoji otrok se sicer poglablja, vendar v praksi še vedno zaznamo neustrezne vzgojne pristope. Naš namen je raziskati, kako določen stil vzgoje vpliva na otrokov čustveni, osebnostni in socialni razvoj. Metoda: S pomočjo različnih raziskovalnih orodij oziroma podatkovnih baz, kot so PubMed, Google Scholar in DiKUL, smo opravili kritični pregled literature. Omejitveni kriteriji raziskovanja so bili: brezplačen dostop do gradiva, vsaj 1/5 vseh enot literature in virov, starih do največ 6 let, uporaba primernih in zanesljivih statistik na področju vzgoje in razvoja otrok, vsaj 1/5 vseh enot literature in virov v tujem jeziku in dostopnost celotnega besedila. Nasprotno avtoritarni vzgojni stil s prekomerno zahtevnostjo in pomanjkanjem odzivnosti povzroča vedenjske in čustvene težave. Permisivni stil sicer kaže višjo stopnjo samospoštovanja, vendar poveča možnost šolskih težav in problematičnega vedenja. Zanemarjajoči stil prinaša najslabše rezultate, saj povzroča težave na vseh področjih. Ugotovitve poudarjajo pozitiven vpliv avtoritativnega pristopa na razvoj, kar poziva k bolj informiranemu pristopu k vzgoji.

Title:THE IMPACT OF DIFFERENT PARENTING STYLES ON CHILDREN'S EMOTIONAL, PERSONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
Abstract:Theoretical background: While knowledge about child development and education is growing, inadequate educational approaches are still found in practice. Our aim is to investigate how a particular style of education affects a child's emotional, personal and social development. Method: A critical review of the literature was carried out using various research tools or databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar and DiKUL. The limiting criteria for the research were: free access to the material, at least 1/5 of all literature and resources up to a maximum age of 6 years, the use of relevant and reliable statistics in the field of children's upbringing and development, at least 1/5 of all literature and resources in a foreign language, and the accessibility of the full text. The literature review will use content analysis of the material. Results: Our analysis included 33 different literature sources. We found that the studies considered were of high quality: 13 systematic reviews were among the highest ranked, including both randomised and non-randomised clinical trials and meta-analyses. This was followed by 7 systematic reviews of correlational studies, and then 10 individual correlational studies, together with 1 systematic review of qualitative studies. Conclusions: An authoritative parenting style that combines responsiveness and demandingness, encouurages children's social skills, academic success and their emotional well-being. In contrast, an authoritarian parenting style with excessive demandingness and lack of responsiveness causes behavioural and emotional problems. Permissive styles, while showing higher levels of self-esteem, increase the likelihood of school problems and problematic behaviour. The neglectful style produces the worst results, causing problems in all areas. The findings highlight the positive impact of an authoritative approach on development, calling for a more informed approach to parenting.
