Title:Physical therapy of a patient after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction
Abstract:The thesis focuses on analyzing the long-term functional quality of life of patients after physiotherapeutic treatment following a successfully completed reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (hereinafter: ACL). The aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of rehabilitation after ACL reconstruction and to explore potential gender differences in rehabilitation outcomes. Two primary hypotheses were formulated: the first suggesting that physiotherapeutic treatment significantly contributes to improving the quality of life after ACL reconstruction, and the second hypothesizing that rehabilitation after ACL surgery is more successful in males than in females. The results of ten studies were analyzed for the required thesis, with the quality of literature assessed as excellent. The findings confirmed the first hypothesis, indicating that effective physiotherapeutic treatment significantly influences comprehensive recovery and high-quality living after ACL reconstruction. Moreover, the research revealed that, in certain instances, males achieved better rehabilitation results compared to females, partially confirming our second hypothesis. Active patient participation in rehabilitation played a cruciale role in achieving optimal results, reflected in improved quality od life and ability to engage in sports activities. The rehabilitation timeline posed a challenge, but patients showed good results at different time intervals after surgery. Despite positive findings, challenges arose, particularly in the context of concurrent surgical interventions, which could negatively impact the quality of life more than 10 years after ACL reconstruction. Consideration of integrating modern technologies into rehabilitation programs emerges as a potential tool for optimizing the recovery process. The study's conclusions emphasize the crucial role of physiotherapeutic treatment in enhancing functionality and improving the quality of life after ACL reconstruction. Gender differences necessitate tailored rehabilitation approaches, with an individualized approach remaining essential for addressing challenges and enhancing long-term outcomes.
