Abstract:V diplomski nalogi Stik med pacientom in tehnikom zdravstvene nege ter psihična stiska zaradi preobremenjenosti pri delu smo preučevali vidike komunikacije v zdravstvenih ustanovah, še posebej naloge, odgovornosti in vlogo tehnikov zdravstvene nege.

Title:PATIENT AND NURSING TECHNICIAN CONTACT AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS DUE TO WORK OVERLOAD
Abstract:The thesis Contact between patient and health care technician and psychological distress because of workplace overload studies the aspect of communication in health care institutions, focusing especially on tasks, responsibilities and the role of health care technicians. The main objective of the research is understanding the correlation between work quality, psychological distress, and patient-technician relationship. Five main objectives were defined which shape the form of qualitative research. Relationship between patient and health care technician, state of psychological distress of health care technicians due to work overload, the relationship of health care technicians towards patients, following work overload, the work quality of health care technicians in relation to rate of work overload and identified possibilities for work quality improvement and reduction of distress. Methodologically, the qualitative approach was used, which offers a deeper understanding of certain aspects and a small number of interviewees. A semi-structured interview form was used to collect data from six health care technicians from various health institutions. The method of open coding was used for data analysis, which provided a systematic analysis of information and identification of important topics. There was a number of challenges with obtaining participants for our study and implementing interviews through a virtual platform, nonetheless all the set goals were met. The results which we obtained, contribute to a better understanding of health care technician and patient relationship, and offer guidelines to improve the quality of work and decrease of stress in health care technicians. Although most of our interviewees did not express work overload, a discrepancy between expected results and obtained results is shown. Therefore, a shift in focus is advised for further research.
