Delovna aktivnost žensk in nezadostno vključevanje očetov v družinski proces privede do problema usklajevanja poklicnega in zasebnega življenja. Negotovost na trgu dela negativno vpliva na zasebno življenje, saj zavira urejeno življenje, partnerski odnos in ustvarjanje družine. Poleg tega bolj izobražene ženske v praksi težje najdejo zaposlitev, zasedajo nižja delovna mesta in imajo z isto stopnjo izobrazbe za enako delo nižjo plačo kot njihovi moški kolegi. Delovna aktivnost žensk, preobremenjenost z gospodinjsko vlogo, pozen vstop na trg delovne sile zaradi izobraževanja in težja zaposljivost vodi do odlaganje starševstva, to ima nezanemarljive demografske posledice za družbo.

Title:Reconciling work and private life according to gender
Abstract:The process of establishing gender equality is gradual, as it requires changes in the fundamental structure of society. These changes unfold slowly, involving the collaboration of various stakeholders and the engagement of numerous factors. Gender roles have historically been entirely different or even opposite to today's norms. The transformation or restructuring is extensive and occurs gradually. Therefore, in this thesis, we analyzed the division of social power between men and women and the changing dynamics of balancing childcare and career.A comparison between gender roles in the past and present reveals a reduction in differences, but despite efforts, true gender equality has not been fully achieved. The research conducted (qualitative – semi-structured interviews) indicates that some differences persist in the division of childcare and household responsibilities. In partnership, economic independence for both partners has created conditions for equality, but in practice, this is not always the case. The study shows that women still predominantly assume a crucial role in caring for children, especially in cases of illness (gradually taken over by men, particularly if the woman is unavailable due to work commitments). Women also mostly take on tasks related to school obligations (assisting children with homework, attending parent-teacher meetings, etc.), with men doing so only exceptionally. Consequently, women continue to maintain a key role in comprehensive childcare, making it challenging to reconcile professional and family life. The work activity of women and the insufficient involvement of fathers in the family process lead to difficulties in balancing professional and private life. Job market uncertainty negatively affects private life by hindering orderly living, relationships, and family formation. Additionally, more educated women often struggle to find employment, occupy lower positions, and receive lower pay for the same work compared to their male counterparts. Women's work activity, combined with the burden of household responsibilities, delayed entry into the workforce due to education, and difficulties in finding employment, contribute to postponing parenthood, with significant demographic consequences for society.
